GLOW
Soft glow
Light shines through the window pane
I have forgotten what it is to swim
Or dance freely in the rain
Tell me if I made you smile
Or ever made you forget your pain
Tell me I am not quite as worthless
As others would complain
Goodbye family, goodbye to you
I'll see you on another plane
For now you hate me and how could I blame you
For things I can't explain
Light shines through the window pane
I have forgotten what it is to swim
Or dance freely in the rain
Tell me if I made you smile
Or ever made you forget your pain
Tell me I am not quite as worthless
As others would complain
Goodbye family, goodbye to you
I'll see you on another plane
For now you hate me and how could I blame you
For things I can't explain

KARMA
Come talk to me, come tell me
How karma takes a hand
Though my suffering was plenty
The universe will take a stand
Even though I shed so many tears
None of it was right
I was building up karma points all those years
That would even out my plight
All I see is a suburban house
Fine automobiles outside
The Grim Reaper nowhere, that louse
He has taken another soul to ride
So forgive me when your karma
Does nothing for my pain
It does not heal trauma
I have nothing left to gain

VULNERABILITY
Vulnerability comes in waves
My arms ache for what my heart craves
Wanting to know that love can be real
That emptiness is not all you can feel
I reach out my arms to give you a hug
The sand of time run between us, all you do is shrug
Is this all you wanted, this moment in time?
I understood your rhythm, then gone went the rhyme
Now I am left clueless, not knowing what to do
I was never the one you were to stick to like glue
Don't worry about me, I will move on
And I know I will be sad when you're gone
But this is just destiny, the luck of the draw
I was easy to fool - vulnerability was all you saw

ROPE
Frazzled rope I need to hold
Through blistering heat and biting cold
I have nothing up my sleeve
I mouth the words "oh please don't leave"
Frazzled rope I am so scared
When you break I am not prepared
I know I am not good enough
To deal with all the painful stuff
Frazzled rope this is my cry
Take me up into the sky
Do not leave me alone down here
This would be my greatest fear

AURELIAN
I need to tell you what happened
Something you might need to know
Above all else I try smiling
Years ago you told me to do so
Through the fog I search for the reason
Just trying to make sense of this mess
All I can see is the hidden anguish
Lost in these streets of fog, no less
Invite you in so you can see me
My shattered and broken soul
Hoping that by the end of the chapter
I found a way to once again be whole

LIES
They said everything out of her mouth is a lie
Don't believe the words, the tears that she cries
It's all just a ruse, a rotten old fake
She's just trying to get attention for her own sake
Nothing ever happened to make her feel sad
Certainly nothing to say why she's mad
We all have trouble with parents, it's true
Trouble with one, more so if it's two
There's nothing wrong with the situation she had
If anything, she should be really glad
A lovely house in which to retreat
Three squares a day, more than enough to eat
Don't bother looking at the pain in her eyes
That's just another part of those gargantuan lies

LEFT BEHIND A Poem
Running running after you
Yet always left behind
I know you don't do it to hurt me
Or even to be unkind
It's just that I'm not important enough
To turn back for a cursory glance
I'm always available when you need me
So we continue to do this dance
Running running after you
I have tried to make you see
When you settle for less than what you're worth
That's what you do to me
Running running after you
Forgot to stop and look
At the sadness creeping inside of me
This poem was all it took
